Meet The Grateful Yogi’s – Yogi of the Week!
1. How has practicing yoga affected you and your relationship to the world around you?
Physically, I feel great! With time and patience my body has slowly opened up and allowed me to do things that I never thought I could do! This has made me a more confident person.
However, I still try to approach the practice with a beginner’s mind. Like most people, I encounter a lot of stress in my everyday life. Yoga is the tool that encourages me to be present. I still experience a lot of challenging emotions, but it has given me a way to observe what I feel.
2. Who has influenced you on your yoga path?
So many people! In my personal life, I am inspired by my mother who practices Iyengar yoga to stay fit in retirement, and my boyfriend’s grandmother who at 92 still practices twice a week to stay healthy and flexible. In yoga studios, April Kirkhart at Goda Yoga, Patti Lewis and Sarah Ezrin at Yogaworks Larchmont, and of course Ashley Wynn and all the other wonderful teachers at The Grateful Yogi!
3. What are you most grateful for?
Good health, family and friends who love and support me and the knowledge that with every new breath is an opportunity to start over.
